When Abraham Lincoln ran for the U.S. Senate, he debated his opponent all over the state. Lincoln lost his bid for the Senate, but the debates are still famous.
We
now have a U.S. Senate candidate (Pete Ashdown) in Utah who wishes to hold debates all over the state. His opponent (Orrin Hatch), however, refuses
to debate him more than once. I am glad to know we have a political candidate who wants to go out and be heard by the people and sad to know we have a senator who doesn't want to give all of his constituents a chance to ask him questions.
